Do you have an overactive Pelvic Floor?

Do you have a tight/overactive pelvic floor?

It’s a tricky one to self-diagnose, here are a couple of tips and as always best advice is to visit a women’s health physio for an internal assessment.

- do you have some joint pain in and around your pelvis, often 1 sided
- do you have difficulty letting go when you wee and/or have a “choppy stream” (think like holding the neck of a balloon wide while you let the air out)
- a feeling like you haven’t emptied completely when you wee and need to go again soon after
- pain on vaginal penetration (tampons, smear test, sex)
- many symptoms similar to having an under active PF - leaking, prolapse and other PF dysfunction

The most common cause I see of overactive PF?
>> Anxiety!

>>> See your physio
>>> work with someone to help you get a more effective connection with your PF
>>> strengthen all muscles around your pelvis for best support and co-ordination
>>> learn your triggers for “tightening up”
