My 5 Non-Negotiables for Good Pelvic Floor Health - Diet

1 - Food that makes your gut happy =>> a happy pelvic floor

If your gut is unhappy by being inflamed, overworked or tense then your pelvic floor is going to feel that as more pressure coming from above.

When I was struggling with my core after my 2nd and also had gut issues I was never going to be able to heal my core without first healing my gut.

Being kind and loving to yourself by eating in a nourishing and self-compassionate way is a wonderful way of helping yourself to feel good from the inside.

Take Action ➡️

  • Prioritise protein in every meal - aiming for around 100g a day or about 30g in each meal (that’s a chicken breast, half a block of tofu, fillet of fish or a mixture of eggs, beans, oatcakes and veggies or an oat bowl with added seeds and proteins. Protein not only helps promote muscle growth. It also helps you to feel satisfied and helps you sleep and rest better which are all valuable for pelvic floor health.

  • Eat a variety - good gut health starts with a good variety of foods across the spectrum all the way through the week. If you aim to eat 30 varieties of all types of foods, you gut will be happier and therefore less inflamed which puts less pressure down into the pelvic floor.

  • Chew your food well - breaking down your food so that you can get on with the process of digestion without having to also break down large pieces again promoting a happier gut.

  • After eating it’s good to give your body time to rest and digest the food that you’ve just taken in helping your body to do one thing at a time means your gut will be happier.

  • Intermittent fasting (IF) can be helpful for some people because it gives time without food, so that your body can get on with the processes that it needs to away from digesting (there’s an awful lot more to it than that so I suggest looking at the @zoe science backed research as well as @satchin.panda work on the circadian rhythm)

  • Don’t forget the snacks and drinks - making a delicious collagen packed hot chocolate from @ancientandbrave is an easy way to enjoy a high protein snack as well as things like jerky - I love @embersnacks for their ethics as well as their high quality snacks.

Good nourishment is a non-negotiable because eating well is a core foundation we need to have before the rest of the body can be happy - including your pelvic floor and core!
